The only document that accompanies us for years is the passport. Now many people use ID-passports, but many remain faithful to the passport in the form of a booklet. It is comfortable and familiar, but without a cover it quickly rubs off and wrinkles in the pockets of clothes, bags and backpacks. So that the passport-book does not lose its appearance, it is worth putting a high-quality cover on it. Cossack Mamai is one of the most popular images of a Cossack knight of the 17th-19th centuries. It can be said that this is a kind of ideal of the “Ukrainian dream” of that era. This is a strong, fair, independent warrior. He is always on the side of the truth. Mamai is one of the main characters of the nativity scene, and since the middle of the 18th century, the image of Mamai has appeared in paintings. Most often, the Cossack Mamai was depicted in the paintings with a kobza, which is a symbol of the singing soul of the people. A horse usually stood nearby, which symbolized fidelity, and Mamai often sat under an oak tree, which meant strength of mind. Often in the paintings next to the Cossack you can see the image of a spear with a flag, a damask and a glass. These things are associated with the death of a Cossack: a spear was placed at the burial site, and a damask and a glass were placed in the grave. These symbols served as a reminder of the transience of life and the Cossack fate, in which the threat of death was an everyday reality. Pictures with Cossacks were painted on canvases, on the walls of buildings, windows, utensils and even on doors. Such paintings testified to the kindness, independence, cheerful disposition of the owners, and also spoke about their worldview.
